Poor M.E. had a cold for over a week and then last night she came home from Grandma's with an itchy, red eye. She woke me up around 4:30 am this morning to tell me the Sandman had put too much sand in her eyes. So it's off to the doctor today to get her checked out.
Speaking of M.E., look what I got her for Valentine's Day She's the tiniest little felt and wire love bug with her own felt heart pouch on a red cord so M.E. can wear her. That little wooden ladybug was a surprise that fell out of the package.
I purchased this little Valentine at dreamalittle7's Etsy shop. She has lots of adorable felt and wool bugs at her shop and her craftsmanship is amazing. I've made a couple tiny felt and wire fairies and I could never achieve the perfect, tidy little stitches you see on her work.
I got something else from Esty too. Look at this from the lovely Emily's shop The Black Apple.
This past Christmas I bought M. some paper dolls from The
Black Apple shop, and I've yet to let her cut them out. They just
seemed too sweet. I kept thinking what I should really do is frame them
for M.'s room. But then I decided to buy an actual print for M.E.'s
room and I couldn't be happier with it. I wish I could have gotten a less blurry picture. You can see a good photograph of the print here at her shop. The walls in M.E.'s room look like the pink washed walls in the print, though her bed is an old white iron frame instead of a wonderful tree bed. I only ordered the print, but with it came that lovely card of the little girl with the bunnies. I'm going to put that on M.E.'s night stand. What a sweet sentiment to wake up to every morning. Once I find the perfect frame, I'll hang it and post a photo.
All this pink reminds me that Tiff asked me if my house was blue outside as well as inside. No, I'm afraid my house is painted a middling, wishy-washy gray. I don't have anything against gray houses. In fact, I used to want to repaint our house either a gray with a lot more white in it- sort of a old fashioned lady pearly gray or a nice, starched looking slate gray with bright white trim. But now I've decided if we ever get enough money to paint the outside, we'll be going with Lapis - which was the darkest shade on the blue paint color strip we used to choose the color for our walls. It looks how it sounds- bright, deep blue. It wouldn't be as obnoxious as it might sound. My neighborhood has become more affluent, and so more conservative looking, over the past ten years, but there's still quite a few non-traditional colored homes. A few blocks from us there's a gigantic brick house painted bright orange and blue and only down the corner from me is a house painted almost the same color I want for my own.
I don't know why all the blue. It isn't my favorite color. It's just that I started with blue walls on which to hang some blue paintings and every time I added something else, more blue seemed like a good idea. It's not so much the blue as the feeling of saturated color I like. Though, all the blue started with the pregnancy of my second long awaited child- after I found out that the condition that caused my infertility was also known to make one more prone to miscarriage and after I read that blue has traditionally been considered a color of protection. So I guess there's a bit of superstition mixed with obsessiveness behind it as well :)
I need to get going to take my girl to the doctor. She's going to be mad at me when I tell her she has to miss her craft co-op today. They're making Valentines. Last week was paper dolls.
